New golf greeting cards from Golf Sketch

Golf Sketch is the work of golf course architect Nicholas O‘Connell, who has taken some famous golf holes and created some fantastic sketches. A different idea for your greeting cards and calendars this Christmas

With Christmas just around the corner, the time has come for people to start frantically rushing around in search of gifts and decorations.

But the Christmas tradition of sending cards seems to be gradually becoming of less importance; yes, there are some funny ones around, but more often than not cards are bought in macro-sized bulk batches, and then endowed with the same nondescript sentence recycled from the previous year. However, for golfers and/or art enthusiasts, this could all be about the change, with the emergence of ‘Golf Sketch'.

Golf Sketch' is the idea of Nicholas O‘Connell, a golf course architect who clearly possesses a keen eye for visual detail. Throughout his years of study, he travelled to many famous golf course designs, sketching holes and distinguishing features that captured his imagination.

Now, following a suggestion from a friend, these stunning sketches have finally been brought to the public's attention in the form of cards and calendars.

O'Connell says: "Sketches really draw out the raw essence of a place, as they are totally unlike the photographs and paintings often seen of golf courses."

Holes such as the 8th at Royal County Down, the 11th at Ballybunion and the 5th at Lahinch have been recreated in startling definition, along with an array of O'Connell's own hole designs.
