The medical research charity ‘Sparks' has become an Official Partner of the 66 Pro Golf Tour in a bid to raise the awareness of the fundraising body and the paediatric medical research they fund across the UK.

The Tour is comprised of a series of one-day events, with appearances from top UK professionals in the Grand Tour final at Walton Heath Golf Club on October 27. The 66 Pro Tour has previously attracted former Ryder Cup winner and European number one Ronan Rafferty, as well as current ranked European Challenge Tour and Senior PGA players.

Sparks' president, Sir Geoff Hurst, stated: "I'm delighted that the Tour is backing Sparks - this is the kind of support that helps Sparks achieve our goal of helping more children to be born healthy and grow up healthy."

Hurst added: "It is a goal that can only be reached through medical research and the money to fund it."

Sparks will receive a donation every time a player at a 66 Pro Tour event makes a birdie or an eagle.

Head of Golf at Sparks, David Barker, announced that the charity will have its own ambassador golf professional for the 66 Pro Tour in the form of James Conteh, the son of Sparks Celebrity Ambassador and former World Boxing champion, John Conteh.

For more information on Sparks contact David Barker on 020 7999 2111. Alternatively you can contact Paul Connew, Sparks director of communications on 020 7340 0681 or 07711 984785, or through emailing paul@sparks.org.uk.
