Bedale GC is our Course of the Week

At the northern edge of the Yorkshire Dales, Bedale is set in beautiful countryside. Lined by mature trees and traversed by a winding brook, this is an inland track of some quality.

Course lowdown: You’ve got to drive the ball well here. Getting into the correct position for approach shots is crucial. There’s out-of-bounds on a number of holes and it’s always to the right so a slice is not good. The greens are well bunkered but they are receptive so accurate iron shots will be rewarded.

Stats: par 72, SSS 72, 6,610 yards

History: One of the oldest clubs in Yorkshire, Bedale was founded in 1894. Since its inception, the club has been based at Bedale Park and then on Firby Road. But since 1967 the members have enjoyed their golf around a picturesque yet testing parkland layout on Leyburn Road.

Green Fees: £27 for 18, £33 for 27 holes wd, £36 for 18, £41 for £27 we

Location: Leyburn Road, Bedale, North Yorks DL8 1EZ
