Five-time Major Winner Seve

Seve Ballesteros is recovering from a scare after being admitted to hospital on Monday. The 51-year-old briefly lost consciousness after feeling dizzy and is now undergoing tests in Madrid.

But La Puz University Hospital described his condition as "stable." No further details were provided at the request of his family.

The Spaniard won five Majors in an illustrious career – the Open Championship in 1979, 1984 and 1988, as well as the US Masters in 1980 and 1983. And with 87 titles to his name, he is one of the game’s all time greats.

However, despite being eligible for the Champions Tour and European Seniors Tour, Ballesteros was forced into retirement in 2007 after suffering from an arthritic back and knee problems.

His nephew and manager, Ivan, revealed in July last year that his uncle had been found to have an irregular heartbeat, although he was quick to allay fears of anything serious.

Always one for matchplay, the charismatic Spaniard played in eight Ryder Cups returning a 59% points record, and he captained Europe to victory at Valderrama in 1997.

Ballesteros still holds great affection for the game, thriving on his successful golf course design business, and is the new brand ambassador for MD Golf.
