Seve Ballesteros remains in intensive care after it emerged that a brain scan detected “a grave illness.”

Doctors have confirmed that the Spaniard is conscious and talking although the latest testing has led La Paz hospital to summon his family.

Ballesteros was expected to leave hospital on Friday after what was thought to be some routine testing.

And Earlier today the five-time Major winner posted a note on his website to thank his concerned fans for their best wishes and to reassure them he was on the mend.

Ballesteros, one of the most charismatic golfers of his generation, won three Open Championships and two US Masters titles, but was forced into retirement last Summer following arthritic back and knee pain.

The Spaniard has moved into golf course design and is MD Golf’s ambassador.

But the latest reports from Spain will be a massive concern for his family and golfing fans across the world.

A full medical bulletin is to be issued on Saturday detailing the worrying condition of Seve Ballesteros.
