Rose struggled at a wet Valderrama

Play in the season-ending Volvo Masters has been suspended due to heavy rain, which has made the course unplayable.

Few of the earlier starters have been able to make a move up the leaderboard, in tough conditions, with more players heading backwards.

England’s Ross Fisher has been the one real exception, getting back to three-over for the tournament, the same score as Order or Merit leader Robert Karlsson.

With the leaders yet to go out, the chances of finishing round two on Friday are not looking good, although the likes of Sergio Garcia and Lee Westwood won't mind seeing their rivals slip back even further.

Westwood will need Karlsson and Padraig Harrington to finish well down the field if he is to have any chance of topping the Money List.

Harrington was sitting at five-over at the time play was suspended, and the Irishman will now need to dig deep if he is finish in the top two.

Meanwhile, last year’s Volvo Masters champion, Justin Rose, carded an 81 to go with yesterday’s 80 which leaves him propping up the entire field, capping off a disappointing season for the Englishman.
