Ryder Cup hero Kenny Perry won his 13th PGA Tour title at the FBR Open in Phoenix
Kenny Perry defeated Charley Hoffman in a play-off to win the FBR Open in Phoenix - a 13th PGA Tour title for the American.
Despite winning three times on the PGA Tour last season, Perry had difficulties getting over the winning line, and seemed to have squandered the title when he went into extra holes following a bogey at the last.
But, after the 48-year-old and Hoffman effectively halved the first two play-off holes, Perry rattled home a 20-footer for the win.
"I always very comfortable on this golf course but I didn't putt well these last two days," Perry said.
"I was just off this weekend on the speed of the greens. My motto was: 'Stay patient, just hang in there and don't make any bogeys.'
"It looked like a wounded duck most of the time, but what a great way to win.
"The playoff was ugly. We were hitting it everywhere, having to scramble from all over the place. But that was neat for me to make a putt - that's probably the first putt I've ever made to win."
Kevin Na had a chance to join the play-off but missed a very makeable putt on the final hole. Elsewhere, England's Luke Donald finished in a tie for 25th with a closing round of 69.
