This week’s equipment guide focuses on golf balls. The
Golf Monthly May edition's golf equipment gear guide focuses on Tour balls from the likes of Callaway, Bridgestone, Titleist, TaylorMade, Nike and Srixon. Each with their own success stories and tour players.

A soft-outer core formulation and cover help to increase short-game spin and feel.The cover is a hexagonal design that reduces drag for a stragither and more stable flight.

2. Bridgestone Tour ix golf balls - £44 per dozen

A four-piece ball that requires swing speeds between 100 and 115 mph to get the most performance out of it. An inner-mantle layer is also designed for distance, while an outer mantle helps players to work the ball.

3. Titleist Pro V1 golf balls - £44 per dozen

The inner core has been reformulated and its size has been increased to create extra speed off the face for added distance.
