Lee Westwood's caddie in 90-mile walk to Open Championship

Lee Westwood's caddie, Billy Foster, will not be at the Scottish Open in July, as he starts his 90-mile hike to the Open Championship at Turnberry, in a bid to raise money for The Darren Clarke Foundation for breast cancer and Candlelighters Children's Cancer Trust.

Lee Westwood will be without caddie Billy Foster for the Scottish Open in July, just a week before the 138th Open Championship at Turnberry.

Foster will leave Loch Lomond when the tournament starts on July 9 to walk 90 miles to Turnberry where he hopes to arrive in time to caddie for his boss on the Ailsa Course.

"I organised the walk while I was working for Sergio Garcia, but Lee is fine with it," said Foster.

The Darren Clarke Foundation for breast cancer and Candlelighters Children's Cancer Trust will be the beneficiaries.

Friends Clarke and Westwood are both appearing at the BMW PGA Championship this week, the European Tour’s flagship event at Wentworth.

Meanwhile, Phil Mickelson has suspended his PGA Tour schedule after his wife was diagnosed with breast cancer.

The former US Masters champion was the leading name at this week’s Byron Nelson Championship on the PGA Tour, but the 38-year-old has withdrawn to be with his wife Amy, who faces "major surgery, possibly within the next two weeks", according to the PGA Tour website. Where next?
