Golf in Morocco - Mazagan Beach Resort

The new five-star Mazagan Beach Resort, complete with Gary Player-designed 18 hole links, has opened for business in Morocco.

Located next to the traditional port town of El Jadida, the resort is just one hour away from Casablanca by car.

Breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean await those who make the trip to this oasis, which is set amongst a UNESCO world heritage site.

Aside from the golf, the resort features six different restaurants, a nightclub and a casino, providing plenty of options for the evening. If you have your kids with you, there's even a babysitting service.

The restaurants offer a wide range of cuisine from authentic Moroccan tagines, to fresh seafood and Mediterranean fare. If you fancy a spot of lunch after your round of golf, you can enjoy it on the clubhouse terrace, which offers fantastic views of the ocean.

If your family isn't into golf, there's a kids club that provides a range of activities throughout the day, while the wife can simply relax by the pool or enjoy the resort's spa.

The Mazagan Beach Resort's Spa was recently voted Morocco's leading spa resort for 2011 by the World Travel Award and offers a wide range of relaxing treatments. All set to the sounds and views of the rolling waves of the Atlantic.

More active visitors can explore the local towns of El Jadida and Oualidia. El Jadida offers an authentic Moroccan experience with it's ancient town walls, festivals and markets. Oulidia is perfect for a spot of lunch and boasts some of the freshest seafood around, available in one of the many open-air restaurants set along the beach.

The golf course, operated by Troon Golf, is set along a 3km stretch of beach and follows the contours of the dunes and natural surroundings. It offers a challenge to all levels of ability. The broadened fairways are forgiving for those not too confident in their game, while experienced players will enjoy the more technical holes that offer the classic risk and reward shots.

Getting there is easy. Direct flights operate between London Heathrow and Casablanca. BMI offers one flight every Monday, Wednesdaym Thursday and Sunday. Return fares are available from £150 including taxes and charges.
