Augusta day 3 review

So day three is over and all that's left is the small matter of the final round. "Moving day" as they perpetually call it in these parts can be rather cagey at Augusta - tough pins, understandably cautious players and a huge prize at steak doesn't always make for the most scintillating golf. Today however, was different.
The Golf Monthly Team, seemingly along with anyone with a British accent in Georgia, followed the two English boys. It was Westwood who started quickly and got the majority of the support. The noise however, came from another group. Tiger aside, no player has a better sense of occasion than Phil Mickelson and just as it looked like Westwood was building a defendable lead, the eagles flowed. The roar, that we heard down in Amen Corner was electrifying.
On a personal note, this is my third Masters. The first two were won by Zach Johnson and Trevor Immelman respectively and whilst they were fantastic experiences they lacked the final day drama to make them unforgettable sporting events. Already, the 2010 Masters is one to remember.
Tomorrow Westwood will take on Phil Mickelson in the last group and despite the Englishman's impressive level of support, team USA will be out in force. But as Westwood told the media last night, he feels more comfortable now even than at Torrey Pines in 2008. He's been knocking at the Major door consistently over the last couple of years, perhaps tomorrow it will finally open.
