Titleist celebrate 2016 being the 68th consecutive year of being the most played ball at the U.S. Open with the launch of Limited Edition ‘68’ play number golf balls
Once again at a US Open, the majority of the field will rely on Titleist golf balls, just as they did when the Major Championship was played at Oakmont in 1953, 1962, 1973, 1983, 1994 and 2007 – and as they have in every U.S. Open for 68 consecutive years and counting.
Titleist’s dominance started at the 1949 U.S. Open and since that historic moment, more players teed it up with a Pro V1 or Pro V1x golf ball than any other brand of ball.
This success mirrors the counts witnessed every week across worldwide professional tours. Since the beginning of the 2016 season, Titleist golf balls have continued to lead the way with over 10,718 players choosing to play a Pro V1 or Pro V1x golf ball, more than six times the nearest competitor with 1,748.
This continues the overwhelming success for Titleist golf balls at Major Championships, having completed a clean sweep as the #1 ball of choice at each of the four Majors in 2015. This included The Open Championship, where Titleist continued as the #1 ball of choice since records began. 2016 has also begun in the same vein, with Titleist golf balls being the overwhelming choice of the elite field at The Masters, the first major of the year.
To celebrate this momentous occasion, Titleist has produced a number of limited edition Pro V1 and Pro V1x golf balls with a ‘68’ play number, enclosed within unique anniversary packaging. These limited edition balls are available in selected Titleist accounts across the UK, or head over to the Golf Monthly Intagram page for your chance to win a sleeve of both Pro V1 and Pro V1x.
