New Cobra Fly-Z drivers - Fly-Z, Fly-Z+ and Fly-Z XL - have diverse technologies to suit players of all abilities.

The Fly-Z+ - made for Tour pros and competent players - features a moveable weight system, known as FlipZone technology, which allows golfers to adjust the centre of gravity to create optimal launch conditions.

Cobra's Fly-Z - crafted for the mid-handicapper - features a low, back CG, creating a higher launch and lower spin, as well as higher ball speeds courtesy of weight saved through the E9 Zone Face structure.

The Fly-Z XL, meanwhile, boasts a range of technologies - including a high MOI, Speed Channel Face and an offset hosel - to specifically benefit ladies, seniors and beginners.

Cobra Fly-Z drivers: the old and the new

Cobra has mixed something old with something new to create its three Fly-Z drivers, which will each appeal to different ability players.

The old comes from the return of vibrant colour choices and popular MyFly8 hosel, while the new includes innovations like Speed Channels and an adjustable centre of gravity.

Indeed, the new Cobra Fly-Z drivers come in Black, White, Blue, Orange and Red colour schemes.

The stand-out model is the better-player Fly-Z+ driver, which has a moveable 15g weight in the sole that enables golfers to switch between low and forward and low and back CG positions.

The former is designed to provide the lowest possible spin with a mid-high launch. According to Cobra, the latter delivers 400 more RPMs of additional spin for higher launch and more carry distance.

As with all three drivers, the Fly-Z+ features a Speed Channel that minimises thickness for increased ball speeds, and weight saved behind the face increases the sweetspot size to aid off-centre hits.

“I’m really excited about the new Fly-Z+ driver. In our early prototype testing I saw the positive effects the two settings could have on ball flight. For me, the front CG setting yielded the ball flight I want to see on the course," said Rickie Fowler.

"The adjustable loft setting Cobra introduced last year was a huge advantage to my game, but now adding this new Zone Weighting to fine tune ball flight is really game-changing," he added.

The Cobra Fly-Z driver (below) is aimed at the improving mid-handicapper, with weight saved in the face re-positioned in a low and back CG position.

According to Cobra engineers, this promotes 300rpm more spin than the Fly-Z+ driver, which should facilitate a higher launch without sacrificing distance.

The end result is a driver Cobra is calling its most forgiving ever.

As with the Fly-Z+, MyFly8 technology enables golfers to select from eight different loft/trajectory setting, ranging from 9-12 degrees.

The Fly-Z XL driver is the game-improvement option. The extreme low and back CG position launches the ball high with mid-spin, and an offset hosel delivers the draw bias often needed by beginners and those with slower swing speeds.
