Desert Springs GC, Spain

If you're tired of spilling sun cream and collapsing deckchairs then take a trip to Desert Springs

From its name and reputation you'll be expecting something spectacular - you won't be disappointed.

Designed by former Walker Cup captain Peter McEvoy, the Indiana Course at Desert Springs has been carved out of the rugged natural terrain of the Almanzora Desert and is quite like anything else in Europe.

Golfers are blessed with unforgettable views in this corner of Almeria as lush fairways crisscross the rugged terrain of the desert with rounds played out against a backdrop of mountains beyond. In a word stunning.

And, the quality of the course was acknowledged when the English Golf Union chose it as their winter base not least because it has one of the most comprehensive golf academies in Europe so there's no excuse for a poor start to your round.

The course itself has been built to the full USGA specifications and is a must for both the beginner and the experienced golfer as fairways have been kept generously wide to please the game improvers but the springs, watercourses, dry river beds, rocks, thousands of cacti and numerous bunkers will test the skills of the even the accomplished scratch golfer.
