The main defences on this excellent “inland links” are provided by its immaculate and seemingly magnetic bunkering, and its deep and impenetrable gorse.
Whilst the club’s website claims there is “a premium on accuracy rather than length”, the course is over 6,700 yards off the medal tees with a SSS of 73; hardly a walkover!
A former host of the Ryder, Walker and Curtis Cup, it contains a seriously tough selection of long par 4s and is a wonderful place to play.
Its relatively remote location means that it is also excellent value. SP
+ A classic test; great value; old-world charm
