Standing on the balcony of the excellent new clubhouse, you overlook the 1st, 10th and 13th tees.

Valleys run off to the left and right, there’s a gentle rise ahead, and all is set in a National Trust forest with herds of deer and no roads. Utopia springs to mind.

This is a course that will provide many happy memories with the holes all totally different as they meander through the valleys.

There are plenty of changes in elevation without it feeling like a tough walk. The five par 3s and five par 5s only add to the feeling of variety.

Overall, the course is in fine condition. RS

+ Great combination of variety, fun, golf, scenery and tranquility - Occasional damage to greens and bunkers by the deer
