Panmure blends links and heathland characteristics, with dunes, gorse and Scots Pines providing protection. Ben Hogan qualified for the 1953 Open here, and the par-4 6th hole that bears his name fittingly demands the utmost accuracy off both tee and fairway. Bail out right onto the adjacent 7th and you'll pay the price with an infinitely tougher second.
Panellists' comments: "Splendid clubhouse with great views from the top balcony""Well worth a visit, a real hidden gem"
