Callaway Epic Flash Driver
The Callaway Epic Flash driver represents a first in golf, specifically the Flash Face that used a super computer and machine learning to create a more efficient design. The Face consists of dozens of subtle ripples flowing from heel to toe that work together cohesively to elevate distanceand this has then been combined with Jailbreak bars to aid in generating faster ball speeds.
Additionally there is also a 16 gram sliding weight which can be adjusted to a draw or a fade bias for those of you looking to create a specific shot-shape. It should be acknowledged that the Epic Flash driver certainly has the potential to provide you with extra distance off the tee, but only if you go through a proper fitting process. Only by optimising the loft, lie angle, shaft and position of the sliding weight will you experience significant gains.
Reminiscent of the Jamaican flag, the green and yellow colour scheme certainly catches your eye from afar, whilst the graphics on the face do help position the ball centrally. At address the standard model is noticeably longer from front to back than the Sub Zero option too.

From a performance standpoint, the Epic Flash launches the ball higher with more spin, which is ideal for slower swingers seeking extra control. Faster swingers will get more out of the Sub Zero model, thanks to the lower spin and more penetrating ball flight.
In relation to its Callaway Rogue counterpart, we saw an increase in ball speed by just over 1 mile per hour and the data suggested the clubhead is more efficient at converting club speed into ball speed, leading to longer carries. Admittedly the slightly louder, higher pitched sound off the face may take time getting used to but it still feels incredibly hot when a ball is struck from the sweetspot.
With its clever design boosting performance for all abilities of player, the Callaway Epic Flash driver was more than worthy of a place on our Editor’s Choice list.
