Victories this week for Justin Rose and Wu Ashun led to another change at the top of the Golf Monthly fantasy league
Justin Rose birdied the final two holes at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans to clinch the seventh PGA Tour title of his career while China’s Wu Ashun secured a maiden European Tour title at the Volvo China Open in Shanghai.
We look at how these performances affected the overall fantasy golf leaderboard and highlight some other notable point scorers.
Rose was the most popular pick last week and he provided an instant return for those who backed the Englishman. In fact, Monty’s Majors gave us the most astute transfer of the week selecting Rose as captain and shooting up the leaderboard into second place.
Beware the Poultergeist took top spot, again with the help of Rose and captain Jason Day, who finished tied for fourth in New Orleans.
Dustin Johnson also proved a popular selection last week but the American couldn’t deliver, finishing way back in the field.
Popular players who missed the cut included Camilo Villegas, Jonas Blixt and Rickie Fowler.
Wu’s maiden victory wasn’t predicted by anyone at the top meaning his 400 points didn’t affect the standings. Instead it was Emiliano Grillo, Alexander Levy and Prom Meesawat sharing third place who made the biggest impression on this week’s standings.
David Howell’s impressive second place and Peter Uihlein finishing eighth also boosted many people’s points tally.
Who’s hot and who’s not
Rose proved an inspired pick this week to all those who transferred him in. Likewise, Grillo made an instant impression with 310 points. Dustin Johnson also appeared in the top three selections this week but he couldn’t deliver the goods.
Jordan Spieth, Ian Poulter and Zach Johnson were not in action meaning they topped the list of players transferred out.
