Fantasy Golf stats round-up: week 4

With a 50% bonus available at the Players Championship this week, there were some big moves up the GM Fantasy Golf League

Rickie Fowler’s dramatic late surge in Sawgrass meant it was all change again at the top of the GM Fantasy Golf League. Elsewhere, those who opted for South African George Coetzee were in the points as he secured his second European Tour title of the season at the Mauritius Open.

PGA Tour

With bonus points available many people opted to load their teams with PGA Tour players, with mixed results. Our new leader is Boddington, after a captain’s performance from Rory McIlroy who finished eighth and a bumper points return from Sergio Garcia who missed out in the play-off. Ag1964 made a strong move up the table picking the top points scorer this week Fowler. He also benefited from McIlroy and Garcia to storm into second spot.

European Tour

A few of you gambled and looked to the less profitable European Tour event in Mauritius. Those who did generally benefited as favourite Coetzee offered maximum points. Thorbjorn Olesen lost out to the big South African in the play-off and fifth placed Scott Hend proved a good shout for those who took him on as their Australian pick.

Who’s hot and who’s not

Sergio was the most popular pick this week and he repaid your faith with a great display in Florida, narrowly missing out on the title. Rory was also popular for obvious reasons and he was again impressive. Jordan Spieth was also popular as many had taken him out when he missed last week’s action, but he was disappointing in Sawgrass missing the cut.

As for those transferred out, Graeme McDowell, Dustin Johnson and Alexander Noren topped the list. These proved sensible moves as McDowell and Johnson finished well out of the running in Florida and Noren did not play.
