Birdies and Bogeys – Open fatigue
The GM team have all safely returned from Carnoustie and normal service is resumed.

And so it is done? The Golf Monthly team have all returned safely from Carnoustie and the office is beginning to resume normal service. It is fair to say that we are all feeling rather lethargic after a week of high drama and high spirits. What a week it was ? certainly the greatest finish to an Open in my lifetime.
After building up to the Open for so long it feels strange that it is now all over but we move on to an exciting month with plenty to keep us entertained. For starters we are all intrigued to see how this weeks Deutsche Bank Players Championship develops after a grueling test at Carnoustie. A strong field will battle it out in Germany with mixed emotions after last week. Much of the focus will be on Andres Romero who looks an awesome prospect and came so close to Open glory.
It will not be long until the final major of the year arrives. Lets hope a European can follow Harrington's lead when they compete at Southern Hills for the US PGA!
