adidas Golf has announced the launch of the next-generation adizero one golf shoe following the success of the first adizero model in 2013.
the new adizero one weighs just 272 grams – 10% lighter than the adizero Tour – and features a number of new stylistic and technological additions.
“When I first saw the adizero one I couldn’t wait to get them on my feet,” said adidas staffer Jason Day.
“With the low-profile design, I can really feel the ground beneath my feet and the power generated from my swing is definitely noticeable. I’m excited to wear these on tour.”
adidas golf designers have created an ultra-lightweight one-piece fused upper that intertwines five layers to produce a glove-like fit on the adizero one.
A lighter and thinner seven-cleat performance outsole – 20% wider than adizero Tour – further aids weight reduction and increased stability.
Tour player feedback and biomechanical analysis were used to locate the optimum positions for the seven cleats, including a proprietary centre cleat, which helps provide ultimate grip and excellent stability throughout the golf swing.
“We’re constantly looking to test the boundaries of engineering to design and develop equipment that helps golfers perform at their peak,” said Masun Denison, Director, Global Product Marketing, Footwear, at adidas Golf.
“adizero one is a perfect example of our relentless pursuit of innovation to consistently create the best-performing footwear in golf.”
The adizero one golf shoe will be available on January 23, 2014 in four different colourways, with an additional colour scheme coming on May 1.
adidas Golf has also designed the women’s adizero Tour II, which utilises many of the same design and fabrication elements as the adizero one. The female version – a streamlined, six-spike configuration with thintech low-profile technology – will also be available from January 23.
The men’s version comes with an RRP of £129.99 and the adizero Tour II will be available in three colourways with an RRP of £89.99.
Another model, the adizero sport II, will also be available on January 23. It features a sprintframe outsole with spikeless puremotion technology, an ultra-lightweight performance mesh with proprietary climaproof protection, spring plane traction and a two-year waterproof warranty.
The adizero sport II – for both men and women – comes with an RRP of £79.99.
