2014 Ping Rapture 3 wood introduced
Ping Golf has announced the launch of the 2014 Ping Rapture 3 wood, which is designed for those seeking a hotter 3 wood or a driver alternative.
The 2014 Ping Rapture 3 wood is a multi-material construct, featuring a Ti 8-1-1 titanium body, a high-strength beta-titanium face and a dense tungsten sole for increased ball speeds and low spin.
The 2014 Ping Rapture 3 wood – which is also adjustable – is available to pre-order now from Ping-authorised golf shops.
“The weighting properties of titanium and tungsten provide our engineers with a lot of opportunities to improve performance,” said John A. Solheim, Ping Chairman and CEO.
“The high-strength beta-titanium material used on the 2014 Ping Rapture 3 wood allowed us to really focus on creating a hotter face that yields ball speeds and distance unlike any we’ve seen in fairway woods.
“The tungsten positions weight extremely low so we can optimise the CG position. It has a taller face and deeper head profile, so golfers will have complete confidence with the 2014 Rapture.”
The tall, variable-thickness face on the 2014 Ping Rapture 3 wood is made of high-strength titanium that’s 30% stronger than standard, creating an enlarged hitting surface, increased forgiveness and improved ball speeds.
Almost 25% of head mass is located in the tungsten plate, dramatically reducing the Ping Rapture 3 wood’s centre of gravity.
What’s more, the matte-black 219cc head on the 2014 Rapture 3 wood has a deep profile to inspire confidence, the 13-degrees-standard loft can be adjusted plus or minus half a degree using Ping’s Trajectory Tuning technology and a TFC 949 graphite shaft provides an increase in moment of inertia.
The 2014 Ping Rapture 3 wood comes with an RRP of £395.
