The Cobra King F6 irons are a unique progressive set promising a soft feel and consistency combined with distance and precision for the game improver
Cobra are billing the King F6 irons as the ultimate progressive set and that’s because there are four types of iron construction that run from long irons down to the wedges.
The system is called TECFLO (Technology Enhanced Cavity Feel Launch Optimisation) and it combines multiple technologies and advanced constructions to optimise the performance of every iron.
In the 3-5 irons, a full hollow design with a face insert delivers a low CG and a highly responsive face for easier to hit, higher flying long irons. The 6-7 irons are a half-hollow design, providing a thin face with discretionary weight for optimal CG positioning and more precise irons shots.
In the 8-PW, a cavity back design creates a low and back CG position that provides more spin and added control on scoring shots while the SW and GW are speciality muscle back wedges that offer added versatility and control around the greens.
“Golfers have been telling us they would like to play long irons but they’re difficult to hit in the air, it’s difficult to get a consistent distance because they’re not very forgiving and direction control is bad,” Jose Miraflor, Director of Product Marketing, told GM.
“So what we created on the 3-5 irons is a completely hollow iron. The hollow iron allows you to position the weight low and further back to increase launch and forgiveness, but it also hides all the harsh sounds you might get too.
“You shouldn’t have to choose between distance, forgiveness, feel or accuracy. In the Cobra F6 irons, you can have it all.”
The TECFLO system as well as a 10-gram weight saving from above the hitting area means that the centre of gravity (CG) on the irons has been lowered, improving both the feel and performance. In the wedges, the CG has been raised to create a more penetrating trajectory.
Progressive Spin technology (PST) also features through the set whereby three types of groove are used to create the ideal spin and trajectory from long irons to short irons.
V-Grooves feature on the 4-6 irons, U-Grooves on the 7-PW, and Wedge spaced grooves on the GW- SW. V-Grooves reduce spin from the long irons to increase distance and consistency, U-Grooves provide optimised spin for more precision in the mid irons, and wedge spaced grooves provide extra spin for shots around the green.
An extremely deep undercut creates the largest unsupported face ever in a Cobra set of irons, meaning you get distance on centred hits and consistent forgiving distance on off-centre hits. Additionally, a Speed Channel on the sole near the leading edge delivers more ball speed and increased launch.
A new Nickel Chrome/PVD plating provides enhanced club durability throughout the set, and a confidence inspiring aesthetic look at address.
