Golf Care, the UK’s largest specialist golf insurer, looks set for a second consecutive record year with policy sales increasing throughout 2012.

Projections are based the number of new policies being taken out in the first half of 2012, which has increased by 52% from the same period last year.

The month of June also set a new record for the company, with the surge in sales directly attributed to Golf Care’s TV Campaign initially aired on Sky Sports, featuring three-time Ryder Cup captain and Golf Care ambassador Bernard Gallacher.

Golf Care policies – starting from just £22.99 an covering both equipment and personal liability – are available in-store at American Golf and Direct Golf UK, as well as online at www.golfcare.co.uk.

“We’re continuing to see positive growth in the number of golfers taking out Golf Care specialist golf insurance. This is partly due to greater awareness, but also because of the level of cover and value for money that our product provides,” said John Woosey, Golf Care’s Managing Director.

“We’ll continue to work hard to ensure that we’re providing value for money and peace of mind for golfers every time they step on the golf course.”

Last year, a golfer was awarded £400,000 in damages after a golf ball, hit by another player, struck him and blinded him in one eye. The player who struck the ball was found liable for 70% of the damages, despite shouting ‘fore’.

“Mishaps and accidents can happen to anyone and it’s quite frightening to imagine that your next shot could literally cost you a fortune,” said Bernhard Gallacher.
