The achievements of students who successfully completed the specialised Darren Clarke Golf School programme have been recognised at a graduation ceremony this week.

The full time students, who have completed their two-year course in golf, have also accomplished studies in the Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma in Sport qualification, delivered by the Northern Regional College.

"The victories the students have had at the British Schools & Colleges Championship and the Faldo Series make me extremely proud. I am glad I could play a small part in their development and education," said Darren Clarke, who was speaking at the graduation.

Clarke, the 2011 Open champion, shared stories with the students and guests about his days learning the game. He offered encouragement and advice, adding: "I hope you all enjoyed the experience and that you fulfill your dreams on and off the golf course."

Recognition was given to Christian Osborne from Carrickfergus for the most improved golfer on the course. Scott Bell, from Aughnacloy, was awarded with the Halo trophy, for having the best attitude to golf throughout the year.

Further accolades and Order of Merit winners were: Michael Downey from Dromore, Alex Doyle, from Bray, Lewis Patmore from Newtownards and Jamie Bryne from Tullow.

Lewis Patmore from Newtownards was the recipient of the ‘nett prize' in the 36-hole final tournament. Brian Carroll, from Bray, was also recognised at the ceremony after winning the gross tournament and the overall 36-hole championship.
