Las Colinas Thrives as European Q-School host

Las Colinas Golf & Country Club proved its status as one of Continental Europe’s Top 100 courses after hosting a successful Stage Two of European Tour Qualifying School.

England’s James Heath was the winner – finishing at -15 under par after a windy round on Sunday – and he voiced his praise of Las Colinas after the tournament.

“The range, chipping area and course are all great. The service was fantastic and, if it is the goal, the facility has everything needed to host a full European Tour event,” he said.

This 72-hole tournament saw both aspiring tour players and veterans battling to earn one of 17 spots in the final stage.

Among the qualifiers were England’s Stiggy Hodgson and James Robinson, and Gareth Wright and Liam Bond of Wales.

“The team at Las Colinas has done a tremendous job of setting up the course which was in immaculate condition and, after a tough final round, the players were full of praise for the Cabell B. Robinson design,” said Qualifying School Director Mike Stewart.

Under the management of golf management group Troon, the par-71, 6973 yard championship course has proved to be a popular venue for holdiaying golfers and European Tour competitors due to its expansive bunkering and impressive water features.

“It is an honour for us to host such a prestigious event that means so much to all the competitors as they fight out for a place on the main Tour, and we congratulate James,” said Las Colinas Golf & Country Club’s Managing Director Cristobal Guerrero.
