Russia's Maria Verchenova, one of the star attractions on the women's game, has become the latest high-profile player to sign a contract with Wilson Golf and play with the Wilson Staff FG Tour irons.

Verchenova captured the Russian, Austrian, Latvian and Slovenian Amateur Championships before turning professional in 2007.

After switching to the cavity-back blades at the back end of 2010, the 24-year old recorded some of her best results of the season and now joins the likes of three-time Major champion Padraig Harrington, former Open champion Paul Lawrie and PGA tour star Ricky Barnes in playing the FG Tour irons.

"We are delighted that Maria has decided to commit to Wilson Staff irons," said Doug Wright, business director for Europe at Wilson Golf.

"She has the potential to be a big star for the future and we hope that the FG Tour irons help her to rise up the rankings in 2011 and beyond."

As well as playing with the full set of FG Tour irons, Verchenova, who is attached to the Moscow City Golf Club, will also have the Wilson Staff badge imprinted on her headwear and carry the distinctive Wilson Staff Pro Tour bag during competitive play.
