Nikon announced that they were the number one rangefinder at the BMW PGA Championship amongst both players and caddies.
Sports Marketing Surveys Inc. conducted the official count ahead of the European Tour’s flagship event, which was eventually won by the young Italian Matteo Manassero.
It was announced after the firm finalised a 2-year deal with the European Tour Caddies Association to become the official laser rangefinder provider.
Dion Stevens, the official yardage book supplier for the European Tour uses Nikon products to amass the necessary details for the players and caddies and at Wentworth, the majority of the field were using this same 1000AS rangefinder.
Tim Hunnable, Commercial Manager Nikon UK Sports Optics, said: “There’s no higher acclaim than that of the tour professionals and their caddies. To be used by more caddies and players than any of our competitors, at the biggest tournament on the European Tour is a fantastic achievement.
“This result gives us a huge amount of satisfaction and proves our products are unparalleled at the highest levels.”
The announcement followed the news that Nikon had signed Englishman Ian Poulter (pictured) to become a global ambassador for the firm.
