Here we take a look at the clubs Rory McIlroy has in the bag.

Rory McIlroy What’s In The Bag?

The four-time major winner signed with TaylorMade in 2017 and currently plays a full bag of TaylorMade equipment, including all 14 clubs and his ball.

Rory had been using the M5 driver but for 2020, he has switched it out for the new TaylorMade SIM driver. He has dabbled briefly with the SIM Max model, but it looks like the SIM will be his preferred choice in 8°, one click higher on the loft sleeve.

For 2020 he has also implemented an interesting setup regarding his fairway woods, hybrids and utility irons. He is using a TaylorMade SIM Ti three-wood and a Sim Max five-wood at the moment.

He had been chopping and changing between a P790 UDI utility iron and a TaylorMade SIM Max hybrid but another more significant equipment change may have prompted the switch.

In the irons Rory has a set of TaylorMade P7MB’s in the bag and he looks to have a set from three-iron down to pitching wedge at the moment.

The images suggest McIlroy will use 3-PW in the new irons and also shows him with two 60° Milled Grind 2 lob wedges. He has a brand new one with fresh grooves to switch into for when course conditions get firm but for the time being he’ll be using his current, slightly worn 60° wedge along side a 54° wedge. McIlroy has previously had four wedges in his bag so it will be interesting to see how the 3-iron/five-wood combination plays out.

His irons have Project X 7.0 shafts from 3-9-iron, then in his wedges he switches down into slightly softer Project X 6.5 shafts.

To many people the weakest part of Rory’s game is his putting but since he has put the TaylorMade Spider X Tour in the bag, he has had several wins and got himself back to world number one. Interestingly he was spotted with a TaylorMade TP Soto in Memphis but we are yet to confirm whether this will remain in his setup.
