Tiger Woods to play new Nike clubs as he returns to action this week at the Hero World Challenge. The former World Number One has been out of competitive action since August.
Tiger Woods is set to return to competitive golf this week at the Hero World Challenge with significant changes made to his line-up of golf clubs. The 14-time major winner has been missing from top-flight competitive golf since August and is set to return using new Nike Vapor woods and irons.
Woods, who is currently ranked 24th in the world, had suffered with back problems during an injury riddled 2014 season. The American made just over $100,000 during a year that saw him finish 208th on the Fed Ex Cup rankings
Having missed the Ryder Cup, Tiger Woods returns to competitive golf in his own annual tournament that raises money for the Tiger Woods foundation
During his absence, Nike has launched new hardware for 2015. The Nike Vapor range, as used by Rory McIlroy, will now feature in the bag of Tiger Woods. Here are the clubs that Woods will be playing going into the Hero World Challenge with some insight from Nike about what the new clubs are offering the former world number one.
Tiger Woods in the bag
VAPOR Speed Prototype Driver: “Tiger will have a Vapor Speed Prototype driver in the bag this week. He’s commented on improved stability and, per his request, the return of the compression channel.”
VAPOR Speed Fairway Woods: “Rounding out an all-new set of woods for Tiger is a Vapor Speed 3 and 5 wood. In testing, the 3-wood was especially promising as a weapon off the tee.”
VAPOR Pro Irons: “The Modern Muscle design insight started with Tiger, so it’s only fitting that he’d game Vapor Pro irons in his return.”
RZN Black: “RZN Black has given Tiger improved feel around the greens and, along with his return to health and a new driver, increased ball speed off the tee.”
