ESPN and ESPNHD will broadcast a nightly highlights show from the 139th Open Championship at St Andrews starting this Thursday

ESPN and ESPNHD will broadcast a nightly highlights show from the 139th Open Championship at St Andrews starting this Thursday.   ESPN'S 'The Open Highlights', shown nightly at 11pm, will be the only highlights show of the tournament available in the UK in high-definition.   Jeroen Oerlemans, vice president TV Channels, ESPN EMEA, said: "We are delighted to bring British golf fans a nightly high-definition round-up of the best of The Open.   "ESPN is no stranger to golf having televised golf for decades around the world, including all four majors. We will look to continue to build our golf programming in the UK as part of our commitment to building a channel with a wide variety of sport."   There will also be a one hour preview show, 'SportsCenter at The Open Championship Preview', on Wednesday July 14, at 11pm. During The Open, ESPN and ESPNHD will broadcast The Open Highlights, nightly at 11pm.   Peter Alliss will feature on the show as well as Ryder Cup captain Colin Montgomerie, along with golf legends Paul Azinger, Tom Watson and Curtis Strange.  All are part of ESPN's international coverage of The Open Championship.   Those tuning into ESPN Classics will also get to see some famous Open encounters from yesteryear, starting Monday 12 July.
