John Conteh presents awards

On a wet and windy day in Berkshire, 50 players competed in a special fourball-betterball at Castle Royal, Maidenhead to commence the 66 Pro Tour series of 2010. Despite very testing weather conditions, the golf course played to an excellent standard, as was the play by members of a high class field.

Mark Laskey and James Ruebotham were worthy winners with a score of 65 for seven-under-par. The  runners up were James Conteh and David Griffiths along with the Berkshire duo of Matt Woods and Guy Woodman with scores of 66.

The tour was honoured by the presence of John Conteh, former World Boxing champion, and Warren Clarke, renowned film actor and producer. The pair appeared on behalf of the Sparks Children's Charity, the official charity beneficiary of 66 Pro Tour.

The tour now moves on to Princes, Sandwich on April 12 for the first individual series event. The Top 66 on this year's Order of Merit will qualify for the Tour Final to be held at Surrey's Walton Heath Golf Club.

The 66 Pro Tour features top class professionals competing in a one day format, held at some of the most renowned venues in England. The series is establishing itself as an exciting addition to the domestic tournament golf calendar.
