Adam Andrews, the 2008 Lancashire Boy’s champion, has won the Faldo Series UK Championship at West Lancs Golf Club, Blundellsands, near Liverpool.
Andrews, representing the Ashton-in-Makerfield Golf Club, shot rounds of 68 and 70 – with ten birdies over the two rounds – to secure a four stroke victory over Henry Tomlinson (Royal Lytham & St Annes) and Paul Kinnear (Formby).
The Lancastrian also claimed a five shot victory over Adam Wills (Sandiway) in the Under-21 section and earned a place at the 2010 Faldo Series Europe Grand Final at the Faldo Course, Lough Erne Resort in Co. Fermanagh, Northern Ireland, this September.
Andrews will be joined in September by Tomlinson (Boys’ Under-18), Christopher Whatham (Boys’ Under-16), Jenna Birch (Girls’ Under-21) and the impressive Brogan Townend, who retained the Girls’ Under-16 title.
Townend confirmed her burgeoning reputation with birdies at the 10th, 14th and 17th during her second round.
The 15 year-old English international was also part of the England 2 squad that captured the team prize at the recent Scottish Girls’ Under-16s Championship at the Strathmore Golf Centre in Perthshire.
