Fifteen-year-old Philip Bootsma won the inaugural Faldo Series Netherlands Championship, staged at Goyer
Golf and Country Club near Eemnes.

Bootsma, a three-handicapper from Golf Club Houtrak put together rounds of 69 and 71 for a four-under aggregate of 140 and a three-stroke victory over Ruben van Uden, a scratch golfer from Helmond.

Bootsma’s victory in both the overall competition and the Boys’ Under-16 age group earns him a place in the 2010 Faldo Series Grand Final, to be staged over The Faldo Course at The Lough Erne Resort in September.

Joining Bootsma will be Boys’ Under-21 winner, van Uden, and the other age group winners, Walt Van der Kolk (Boys’ Under-18), Lianne Jansen (Girls’ Under-21) and Sophie van Wijngaarden (Girls’ Under-16).

At Lough Erne they will come up against a strong international field comprising all the other winners from the other 16 events on the 2010 Faldo Series Europe schedule.

Meanwhile, invitations to compete at Lough Erne Resort have also be extended to Japan’s Masamichi Ito and Thailand’s Thidapa Suwannapura, winners of the Boys’ and Girls’ titles at the Faldo Series Asia Grand Final held at Mission Hills, China, earlier this year.

The inaugural Faldo Series Netherlands Championship attracted 120 golfers from five different countries, comprising Luxembourg, Russia, Belgium, Denmark as well as the host nation.
