The Belfry, home of the famed Brabazon course – the only four-time host of the Ryder Cup (1985, 1989, 1993, 2002) – has received an exclusive grant from England Golf, the governing body for amateur golf in England. The grant is designed to grow the game amongst adults looking to get started in golf.
Beginning the first week of January, a full eight-week programme will commence, giving people the opportunity to learn the basics, such as grip and stance, from some of the UK’s leading coaches. Sessions will cost £5 per person.
“We’re honoured that England Golf has trusted us to lead this new initiative at The Belfry,” said Alex Davies, Golf Academy Supervisor, The Belfry. “These sessions will be fun, yet informative enough for people to go away and practice, safe in the knowledge that they’ve been given the right tools to do so.”
Among the facilities at the PGA National Academy at The Belfry include five individual custom-fitting suites, a 34-bay floodlit driving range, a putting green and short-game area, video analysis and launch monitor technology and over 20 fully qualified PGA Qualified Golf Professionals.
The Belfry, which is managed by De Vere, is located just minutes from the M6, M40 and M42, Birmingham International Airport and Birmingham International Train Station.
