Qualifying for the inaugural British Airways Pairs Championship got underway at the London Golf Club as 30 teams of two competed to play in the finals in the Bahamas.

Play got off to a slow start after bad weather caused tee times to put back by an hour but, after the rain stopped, the teams slugged it out in a fourball better-ball format from full handicaps.

Graham Kerr and Duncan Bland ran out winners after posting 48 stableford points and will head to the five star Sandals Emerald Bay, Great Exuma in The Bahamas to play in the final.

The will now play the winners from other regional competitions being played in the UK at Bearwood Lakes GC in Berkshire and The Mere in Cheshire.

After their victory Kerr says, “We managed to stay out of the water on the par three holes and even birdie a few of them which really helped our scorecard against the rest of the field. We’ve had a fantastic day and can’t wait to try and win the final in The Bahamas.”
