Double hole-in-one celebrated at Hillingdon Golf Club
Club golfers Paul Harris and Phil Smith defied odds of 17 million to one by both acing the same hole
Paul Harris and Phil Smith celebrated a unique achievement on August 7, 2011 by both acing the same hole at Hillingdon Golf Club.
If a hole-in-one from club captain Harris was not enough of a shock, club professional and general manager Smith then astounded everyone by holing out from the 6th tee with the very next shot.
Not even defeat for Harris and Smith in their 'Captain and Pro Challenge' match against husband and wife pair Karen and Phil Richardson could dampen their enthusiasm for this amazing feat.
Harris, club member for over 25 years, became captain last December, and said: "It was quite surreal really. I went first and holed out from 178 yards and after the celebrations had died down our professional Phil Smith holed out with the very next shot.
"I have never heard or read about anything like this before. It is a fantastic way for me to celebrate my year as captain."
Smith, who recorded the first of his 13 aces in 1984 aged just 15, added: "I have kept a record of all my holes-in-one but this one was extra special after my partner's good fortune. It was a real thrill for me."
