Two female golfers from Suffolk have undertaken an ambitious project to stage the first ever dedicated golf show in East Anglia.

Golf East will be held at Trinity Park, Ipswich, which is also the venue for the Suffolk County Show, and will run from 14-15 July.

The event aims to be a family show that caters for grandparents, mums, dads and children, whether they have played the game before or not, with the emphasis placed on an entertaining day out for all who attend.

It is also an opportunity for existing golfers to try before they buy many of the latest products from within the industry.

Golf East will feature a full length driving range, a junior range and a wedge range provide a unique opportunity for anyone to swing a club for the first time.

PGA professionals are on hand to give taster lessons and instruction to attendees, while an innovative co-operative retail arrangement will see a host of golf fashion shows, as well as golfing gadgets and gizmos available for purchase.

Local trick-shot entertainer Kevin Carpenter is scheduled to perform and on-site radio coverage of the event will provide further entertainment.

Tickets cost just £10 for adults, while juniors and under-16s will get in for free with an adult.

Organiser of Golf East, Susan Moore, said: "We have been overwhelmed by positive reaction. It may be ambitious but it is also achievable. With the sport and local businesses already behind us we are well on our way to putting on a great show.

"We know that the barriers to taking up the sport are often intimidating but here they are removed. Anyone who has ever wanted to give it a go can find absolutely everything they need to know in one place over one weekend."
