American Golf has announced the introduction of a Junior Championship, which will take place at De Vere Mottram Hall on August 27.
The event will be held in association with Ping, who will be providing all the prizes for the competition.
The tournament is open to 100 people aged under-18 as of the 1st January 2014. Entries will be on a first come, first served basis and will cost £5 per person.
“After the resounding success of last year’s ‘most improved Junior’ competition, we wanted to try and give more of a championship feel to this year’s event,” said Daniel Gathercole, American Golf’s Head of Marketing.
“Junior golfers are the future of the sport so it’s important that the whole industry embraces young players.
“We are delighted to be working with Ping on this event. Not only do they have a great range of junior clubs and clothing, but they also share the same vision as we do regarding the future of golf.”
One player will be crowned overall American Golf Junior Champion in the main competition, but a number of other awards, including nearest the pin, longest drive and putting champion, will be on offer.
What’s more, every attendee will receive a goodie bag courtesy of American Golf and Ping.
De Vere Mottram Hall’s Championship Course will provide a good test for junior golfers, with a front nine played predominantly over meadowland and the back nine running through woodland.
