Another successful Eddie Gray Heartbeat Golf Classic held at Oulton Hall

Oulton Hall hosted the second Eddie Gray Heartbeat Golf Classic on Tuesday 15th July; an event that helped to raise significant funds for the Heartbeat Appeal

A total of 19 teams and 76 golfers took part in the Celeb Am tournament that saw one of Yorkshire s favourite sporting sons, Eddie Gray joined on the day by friends from the world of sport, television and entertainment, including legendary Liverpool goalkeeper Bruce Grobbelaar, former England and Yorkshire cricketer Brian Close and ex-England and Leeds United footballer Trevor Cherry.

After the golf, the stunning Oulton Hall hotel held a black tie gala dinner, where former world featherweight boxing champion Barry McGuigan was the guest speaker. Auction prizes included a Mini Cooper and a Hummer golf buggy, as well as items that were generously donated by the likes of Coutts Bank, Aston Martin and Newcastle United Football Club.

It is expected that the event will contribute in the region of £16,000 towards the Heartbeat Appeal.

The Heartbeat Appeal is Yorkshire s leading independent heart charity, which has raised more than £2m since it was launched in 1994. In that time, it has supported doctors and nurses at hospitals in Leeds, Bradford, Wakefield, Harrogate and York in their fight against heart disease.

Keith Pickard, Director of Golf and Leisure at Oulton Hall said: I am delighted that Oulton Hall was able to host this event once again, as it was another terrific day for everyone involved that raised a fantastic sum of money for such a worthy charity. It was a real pleasure to play golf with Eddie and be a member of his team, especially given that we finished second in the tournament!

Oulton Hall offers golfers of all standards a testing 27 championship hole complex in stunning picturesque surroundings. It has recently completed a £10m development to the golf course and associated facilities including a luxury two story clubhouse, aptly named the Claret Jug, and a new state of the art golf Academy all of which now promotes Oulton Hall as the only five-star golf resort in the North of England.
