The Brabazon Challenge at The Belfry returns this year following on from a record number of entries in 2011, once again giving amateur golfers the chance to test their matchplay nerves on the Ryder Cup course.
A total of 142 pairs took part last year when Edwin Martin of Upminster Golf Club and Kevin Lye of Romford Golf Club triumphed 3&2 in the final.
For £199, pairs can enter the Stableford competition in one of six qualifying rounds. The top team from each of six two-ball better ball qualifiers will progress to a Grand Finals weekend over October 19-21, 2012, along with the two teams with the next highest scores from all qualifiers.
The qualifying rounds will all take place on Tuesdays – April 10, May 22, June 5, July 10, August 14 and September 18, 2012.
Quarter finals will be played on October 19, with the four winning pairs qualifying for dinner and bed and breakfast accommodation ahead of the semi finals the following day. The finalists have a further night’s accommodation before the final.
Those signing up to The Brabazon Challenge are being offered a half-price practice round on the day before qualifying events at £70 per golfer after 2pm, while preferential bedroom rates are available in the hotel on the night before qualifying at £79 per single and £99 for a twin.
