The Real Club de Golf de Las Palmas in Gran Canaria has announced it will stage this year’s Spanish International Ladies Amateur Championship over the Bandama course. The event will take place from 25 February to 1 March 2009 and is open to a field of 95 players.
The event is one of the most important in the Ladies Amateur calendar being one of only four qualifying events for the Curtis Cup, the ladies equivalent of the Walker Cup. The 95 players taking part will be competing for the historic Copa de La Reina, ‘The Queen’s Cup’, first contended for in 1911.
The format consists of medal play for the first two days after which the field will be cut to 32 who will play match play between the 27 February and 1 March.
