Ian Botham and Shane Warne Set For Golfing Extravaganza
Cricket superstars Sir Ian Botham and Shane Warne will be playing 18 holes of golf tomorrow all in the name of charity.
Except they won’t be playing a regular 18 holes. The pair will be teeing it up on a hole in 18 of the UK’s cricketing counties.
They’ll be starting at 6am in County Durham and taking a helicopter from hole to hole.
Their schedule shows that they should be due to arrive at The Belfry at around 7.30pm, where they will play the world famous risk-and-reward 10th hole on The Brabazon.
The unique challenge will be filmed by Sky Sports throughout the day as they aim to raise money for the Beefy Charity Foundation.
The Foundation helps to fund specific projects relating to chronic illnesses and other challenges that young people face.
James Stewart, Resort Director at The Belfry is looking forward to the event: “We are delighted to be a part of this one-off challenge and to be able to show our support for such a worthy cause. Ian and the team at the Beefy Foundation do an excellent job, and this is yet another challenge which will capture the public’s interest.”
“All of our courses are in fantastic condition, and I hope that taking on the challenge of the iconic 10th hole will become a highlight of their day,” continued Stewart. “We look forward to welcoming both Ian and Shane to the resort, as they add their names to the impressive and ever-growing list of VIPs to visit The Belfry.”
The Beefy Charity Foundation currently supports Brain Tumour Research & Support, Batten Disease Family Association, Cardiac Risk in the Young, Bloodwise, and Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
