Two hole in one's on same day at Kirriemuir

Two junior golfers at Kirriemuir Golf Club have hole in one's one same day, at the same hole, playing in the same group

The Olympic Games informed us that 8 was a lucky number. They had their opening ceremony 8 minutes after the 8th hour on the 8th day of the 8th month of the 8th year and boy did we see the fireworks fly.

On the other side of the world in a small rural town in Scotland the junior monthly medal was also held on the 8th day of the 8th month of the 8th year and when one group of juniors got to the par 3, 8th hole the fireworks certainly flew. 18 year old Ross Millar holed his wedge shot only to be followed by 17 year old Mark McLaren.

The unbelievable feat was fortunately witnessed by a group of members passing on an adjacent fairway, one of them John Nolan said, I am still reeling from the shock, to see a hole in one is a fantastic feeling but to see 2 at the same time was overwhelming, I don t know how they could carry on playing, it certainly took me a few holes to settle down after it happened .

Club Captain David Lyall said, It is a remarkable feat but to happen at the 8th hole on the 8/8/08 is unbelievable. I would hope the golf club will commemorate this with a plaque of some sort .
