Players are being encouraged to tee off for charity later this summer when Christchurch Golf Club hosts a special day in aid of regional cardiac charity, Wessex Heartbeat.

Golfers are being invited to enter teams into the open event which takes place at the Iford Golf Centre, Dorset, on September 9.

The competition, which offers prizes for members and visitors, comprises a fourball team and individual stableford, coloured ball competition, longest drive and nearest the pin competition.

Entry fees are £70 per team for members and £80 per team for visitors, and this includes coffee and bacon bap on arrival and a hot and cold running buffet.

The tournament is being organised by Ian Mardon of Christchurch Golf Club, and Wessex Heartbeat has been selected by the club’s 2009/10 captain, Chris Down, as his Charity of the Year.

This year’s charity golf competition has been sponsored by KFC Christchurch (Caskade Group).

Players wishing to book should contact Peter Gilbert on 01202 436436, and the closing date for entries is August 15.
