BMW PGA Championship betting guide

Following his successful pick of Nicolas Colsaerts last week, here is our tipster's picks for the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth

Justin Rose is tipped this week

Summer is finally here and the European Tour return to their headquarters at Wentworth in Surrey for the BMW PGA Championship.

The famous West course, as you will be well aware, has had some changes to it over the last few years under the guidance of former Wentworth resident Ernie Els.

Not all the players are fans of the changes but if the tournament ends with a battle for the World Number one spot, which it did last year with Luke Donald and Lee Westwood's winner takes all play-off, then the powers that be at Wentworth will surely be happy again.

The last three winners at Wentworth have been Englishmen and I feel that there is a chance the trophy will end up staying within these shores this time round.

Ross Fisher at 80/1 has had a poor season with only one top ten. However he is a Wentworth specialist with two top tens in his last three seasons including one runner up spot. With his odds being this long he is an easy each way pick.

Miguel Angel Jimenez at 66/1 the loveable Spaniard's odds seem very long for someone who has had three top ten finishes this year and was winner of the event in 2008. Has struggled here since the changes but for someone this good I find it hard to ignore at this price.

Justin Rose at 20/1 The Englishman is ranked 30 in driving accuracy and 4th in GIR on the PGA Tour. Has one of the best long games around at the moment, if he can get his putter firing then he will feature come Sunday afternoon.

Francesco Molinari
at 33/1

is someone else with a superb long game, only recently won at the start of May and has the attributes required to get round the long West Course challenge. Another who needs his putter to behave if he is to truly challenge.
Graeme McDowell at 33/1
Volvo World Match Play runner up from last week has the long game to cope with the West course and is obviously hitting it nicely. Hasn't set the world alight here since the changes but will have the grit between the teeth especially with the huge amount of Ryder Cup points available.
