Brown to join Setanta team
Satellite TV channel Setanta Sports today announced that former Ryder Cup star Ken Brown is to join their golf team next season after it won the rights to broadcast numerous events from the USPGA Tour in 2007.
Ken Brown has been announced as part of the commentary team for Setanta Sports? new golf channel Setanta Golf. The BBC regular will feature on 10 of the live and exclusive USPGA Tour events next season but will also continue to work for his current employers.
Brown (pictured) has established himself as a commentator after a golf career that saw him win on both sides of the Atlantic and appear in 5 Ryder Cups. Setanta feel that Brown is perfect for the relaxed but professional coverage they will offer golf fans.
?Ken is the UK?s best all round golf commentator and we?re very excited that he?ll be a central member of the Setanta Golf team," said Setanta Golf chief David Tippet.
"His enthusiasm and unique approach to golf broadcasting will be the perfect complement to Setanta?s innovative and groundbreaking coverage.?
The Setanta Golf channel will be launched on January 8th and will show 50 PGA Tour events live, including The Players Championship, The Tour Championship and new FedExCup Playoffs. This coverage will be complemented by live Champions Tour, Asian Tour and Nationwide Tour events. As well as this live coverage, the 24 hour a day channel will include weekly news, instruction and travel programming.
The cost of the nine Setanta Channels will be £15 per month. This will include live Barclay?s Premiership, Scottish, Italian, French, German, Portuguese, Dutch and Champions Leagues football. As well as the Setanta Golf channel there will also be horse racing, North American sports, Formula 1 and the Rugby World Cup.
Setanta have also announced that they will be broadcasting a channel on Freeview. This Freeview channel will take highlights from the other 9 Setanta Sports channels including Setanta Golf.
