Ryder Cup captain Colin Montgomerie will compete with some of the European Tour’s best golfers next week as the Race to Dubai moves on to the Spanish Open at the acclaimed PGA Golf Catalunya, near Barcelona.

The challenging 7,177-yard par-72 Stadium Course will also play host to a number of Montgomerie’s fellow Ryder Cup stars, including Miguel Ángel Jiménez, Paul McGinley and Golf Monthly playing editor, David Howell.

With big-hitters John Daly and Alvaro Quiros also in the field and competing for a share of the €2,000,000 purse, the event promises to be one of the highlights of the season. The 36-hole resort, which also boasts a luxury hotel, has undergone significant investment over the past two years, making it one of the finest golf venues in Europe and host to the 2008 and 2009 European Tour Qualifying School Final Stage.
