Course of the Week – Broome Park
This beautiful course in Kent is set within the 268 acre Broome Park Estate and combines great views with enjoyable golf.
The 18 hole golf course is set within the 268 acre Broome Park Estate. The undulating countryside, with beautiful views of the surrounding valleys makes this course a good test for all golfers.
Course lowdown: The front nine at Broome Park are relatively tight and tree-lined so play cautiously to begin with ? 3-wood or long iron is the sensible option off many of the tees. On the back nine take the driver and open the shoulders a little. The greens are not overly sloping so if you?re stroking it well you?ve got a good chance of making a few putts. The 18th, the toughest, is a sweeping dog-leg of 508 yards that?s reachable in two for the better player. But a pond waits short of the green ? if you don?t strike your approach correctly you could find a watery grave.
Stats: par 72, SSS 71, 6,580 yards
Green Fees: £40 Mon-Fri, £50 weekends. Special deals are available so please ask when booking
Location: The Broome Park Estate, Barham, Nr Canterbury, Kent CT4 6QX
History: Dating from the reign of Charles I, Lord Kitchener was once the owner of the Broome Park Estate and the impressive 300-year-old mansion attached to it. The golf course here is far newer. It?s a Donald Steel design boasting superb views of the surrounding valleys.
